About WordTry
WordTry (wordtry.com) is a free, unlimited word-guessing game for people who love daily word puzzles but don't love waiting 24 hours for the next one. Open the site, start a round, and play as many puzzles as you like — no download, no sign-up required, no daily cap.
What You'll Find on WordTry
- Unlimited play. Every round gives you six attempts to find a five-letter word, with instant color feedback on each guess. Finish one puzzle and start the next straight away.
- A daily puzzle and answer archive. Alongside free play, WordTry publishes a daily puzzle and maintains a dated archive of past answers with hints and short explanations, so you can catch up on any day you missed.
- Streak tracking and leaderboards. Signed-in players can track win streaks, compare results on the leaderboard, and earn achievement badges.
- Spoiler-safe sharing. Generate the classic emoji grid of your result and share it without revealing the answer.
- Strategy articles. Our articles section covers opening-word strategy, vocabulary building, playing with kids, accessibility, and more — written from our own experience running and playing the game.
- Thirteen languages. The interface is available in English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and more.
Why We Built It
We're word-game players ourselves. The one-puzzle-a-day format is a lovely ritual, but it's a frustrating ceiling when you're trying to improve: you can't practice openings, test strategies, or just keep playing on a long commute. WordTry started as a small side project to scratch that itch — a place where the puzzle never runs out — and grew into a full game with streaks, leaderboards, daily answers, and a library of strategy guides.
Our Approach
- Free first. The core game is free and playable without an account. Optional supporter perks help cover hosting costs.
- Light on your data. We only collect what the features need, and we explain exactly what that is in our Privacy Policy.
- Accessible by design. High-contrast and color-blind-friendly modes are built in, and we keep improving keyboard and screen-reader support — our players' accessibility feedback directly shapes the roadmap.
- Fair play. We actively work against cheating on the leaderboard so streaks mean something.
